Report Event

In Rulex Studio, widgets can also be linked to the Report event type. This event allows users to generate and store reports in local or remote filesystems, or send them via email to a list of recipients, simplifying the distribution and sharing of key data analysis insights across various channels.

Exporting Reports

If you want to save a copy of your report and send it to other users or store it, you can export an entire report as a PDF file format.

Exporting operations can be performed both to Local filesystem (i.e. your machine disk) or to any Remote filesystem supported. To configure the selected destination, you need to insert the desired connection you want to use (further information about Filesystem connection configuration available at this link), which could be Saved or Custom as well as the relative path of the destination folder.

In this event type the following options can be configured:

  • Select the report to export: it enables the selection of the report to export.

  • File basename: it allows you to specify the name of the report before exporting it.

  • Select the export mode: it allows the exporting mode for the selected report to be chosen. Possible values are:
    • Store file (default)

    • Both

  • Recipients for export via mail (use comma as separator): it displays the recipients of the report. Multiple email addresses can be added, separated by commas.

  • Add current date and time as prefix: it adds a timestamp prefix to the report name upon export.

  • Add current date and time as suffix: it adds a timestamp suffix to the report name upon export.

To export a report to either a local or remote filesystem source follow the prerequisites down below:

Prerequisites

  • You must have selected and opened a view in editing mode.

  • You must have a widget on one of your slides or dialogs in order to link this type of event.

  • You must have at least one report in your view to export.

Then follow these steps:

Procedure

  1. Right-click on any widget and select the Set events entry.

  2. Choose the event trigger.

  3. Select in the events tab the Report event type. A pop-up will appear, informing you that all current changes will be discarded. Click YES to proceed.

  4. Choose the report you want to export from the Select the report to export drop-down list.

  5. From the OUTPUT FILE slider, select whether the exported report should be sent to a previously saved location, or to a custom location you are going to specify following the instructions at this page.

  6. Choose from the OUTPUT FILE drop-down list if you want to export the report to your computer or to a remote connection (see filesystem description). If you are exporting to a remote connection, choose it from the list and then click on the pencil button to set the connection information required.

  7. Click SELECT and browse to the location of the folder where you want to export.

  8. Save the event and close the Studio Events window.

  9. Interact with the widget, based on the event trigger you selected, to export your report.

Note

Please note that if you do not specify a name for your exported report, the report will automatically use the name shown in the Reports panel list (e.g., Report_1).
