Studio Events Window¶
Warning
This section applies for the Standalone version only.
In the Standalone version, all opened events are first opened in a unique new window, called event window, and listed as sub-tabs. Each tab contains an event; it is possible to navigate between them by clicking on the tab’s header. The tab header contains information about the event category and the name of the event contained.
When closing the event window, no events are dropped: the window is simply removed from the visibility of the user, but the events are still active.
Danger
As the events are not really dropped, closing the event window will not free the RAM space used by the event itself to load its internal data.
To actually close an event, and then free the RAM space used by the event itself, the user needs to click on the Cross icon located at the right end of any event tab’s header.
By right-clicking on the tab’s header, a dedicated context menu appears. It contains the following operations:
Close: to close the current tab; it is equivalent to clicking on the Cross icon.
Close other: to close all the tabs, except the current one.
Close all: to close all the tabs.
Detach: to open the event in a separate window.
Hint
In the standard window menu, available by clicking the ALT button at any time, under the File submenu you can find the Close button. You can also use the Ctrl-W shortcut to access the same entry. The Close button in the File drop-down menu works as a Close all, closing and freeing all the computer resources used by the events. This button can be used as an emergency operation in case of freezing or error which prevents users from properly closing events.
By dragging the tab header outside the events window, the corresponding event step is detached, and located in a separate window. This new window is going to have Event - <event name>
instead of Event as header.
Users can switch to an already opened event window by clicking on the side arrows icons located to the left and to the right of the event tab’s header.
Events and Steps¶
When building an event we need to distinguish between the event itself and the steps it contains.
An event can consist of multiple steps, and it can be defined as the container of a concatenated series of steps which are activated in sequence once the event is triggered.
The event is the set of operations that are triggered, while the step represents each operation defined within an event.
From the Set event type dropdown menu of the event tab, the user can select the type of event operation to configure in the step; when the event type is changed, all the options are reset. A step is the single operation performed in an event window, steps are numbered and users can switch to the next event step by using the navigation bar or the side arrows.
The Events Tab¶
The event tab’s header displays icon of the widget linked to the event and the name of the event.
Each event tab is divided in three areas:
the Set event type dropdown menu, located in the top left corner of event window, allows changing the event type.
an event toolbar, located on the top left side of the event window.
an event information area, located next to the event toolbar.
Note
When changing the type of event from the Set event type dropdown menu, a pop-up will appear informing you that all current changes will be discarded. Click YES to proceed.
The section containing the event toolbar contains the following buttons:
