Studio Toolbar¶
Located ad the top of the screen, the toolbar contains all the essential buttons for managing the most important operations of Rulex Studio views.
To help users navigating through the toolbar, the buttons have been divided into 5 different groups, each one corresponding to the 5 different sections of the toolbar.
Explore resources: provides access to the Explorer.
General Operations: provides buttons corresponding to all the general operations which manage the corresponding component or primary resource. This part of the toolbar is present in almost all Rulex Platform components.
Presentation Operations: provides buttons corresponding to all the available presentation modes for the current view.
View operations shortcuts: provides buttons allowing to access all the operations which can be performed on the selected and opened view, as well as to all the computations occurring on Rulex Factory, which have been launched from the view.
User settings and manual search: present in all components, this section contains the user settings and provides direct access to Rulex Infopoint documentation server.
General Operations¶
The general section includes operations related to the whole Rulex Platform components or to the core characteristics of the primary resource managed in the corresponding component.
This section contains the following buttons:
The Full Screen button switches the software view to full screen view.
The Undo button rolls back the last operation performed by reaching the closest saving operation.
- The undo/redo operations are only available when a view is selected and opened on the stage window. They are applied to all the operations performed on the stage:
Addition/deletion of widgets,
Dragging operations on widgets,
Editing operations on widgets through the widget context menu.
The Save button allows users to save all the modifications made to the view on the working database.
Warning
The Save operation deactivates the undo/redo buttons, as all the saved operations are made persistent on the view.
Presentation Operations¶
As in Rulex Studio it is possible to create and customize graphical representations of data to provide interactive presentations, this section of the toolbar provides the user with buttons to access the presentation mode.
The following buttons are provided:
The Start presentation button, allowing to start the presentation from the first slide.
The Start from current slide button, allowing to start the presentation from the current slide.
The Presentation settings button, allowing to access the presentation settings.
To know more about the presentation mode and the available interactions in it, go to the corresponding page.
View Operation Shortcuts¶
This section of the toolbar contains shortcuts to specific operations which can be performed through the view context menu, and are applied to the current view.
The following buttons are available:
The Export button, allowing to export the current view. To know more about the export view operation, go to the corresponding page.
The Preferences button, providing access to the view layout menu. To know more about this button, go to the corresponding page.
The Add versioning button, allowing to add the view to the git versioning system. For more information about the versioning on Rulex Platform, go to the corresponding page.
The Computations button, which opens the Computations summary panel. This panel contains a list of all the flows whose computation has been launched through an event. It is possible to close this panel by clicking on the x button. A more detailed description of this panel can be found in the box below. This panel can be accessed also in the presentation mode.
Note
The Computations summary panel contains the list of all the computations launched through any event in the view. For each computation, which is graphically included into a dashed rectangle, the following information is displayed:
The flow name, along with the corresponding task status icon (each icon is explained here) and a computation progress bar.
The Stop computation button, which allows users to stop the corresponding computation.
The Expand button, which opens the monitoring window, which displays the Factory stage while the flow is computing. The title and path of the flow is always displayed on top of the stage.
The Delete button, which deletes the computation from the Computations summary panel. This does not mean that the computation is interrupted, but it will not be visible in the panel.
User Settings and Manual Search¶
The user settings and manual search section, providing user dependent configuration options, is present in all Rulex Platform components, and it is located at the right-hand corner of the toolbar.
Note
If you have an opened and selected primary resource, its name will be displayed in the toolbar between the view operation shortcuts and the user settings options.
In this last section you can find:
The Username, showing the user logged into Rulex Platform.
The User settings icon, providing access to a context menu of specific user settings options. User operations which are not component specific are explained in the Configuring Rulex Platform page. The component specific options are: * Studio preferences: go to the corresponding section to know how to set up Studio preferences. * Go to Studio homepage: it goes back to Studio landing page.
The Infopoint icon, provides access to Rulex Platform’s manual. Users only need to type in the search bar the keyword of what they’re looking for, and the manual will be then opened in a separate window. Using this manual when working on Rulex Platform can be very helpful.
Tip
By accessing the Infopoint Manual directly from the toolbar component, the manual system will refine the search not only for general Rulex Platform’s pages, but also for those pages that are specific to the component you are working on.
Configuring Studio Preferences
Studio preferences allow users to customize their graphical experience on Rulex Studio. All the configurations controlled here will be linked to the current user, so it won’t affect other ones, even if they are using the same Rulex Platform installation.
All the options listed below refer to the general graphical experience in Rulex Studio, so they won’t affect any view.
The Studio preferences window is made of two sections, the Explorer settings, which defines the default visualization of resources in the Explorer panel, and the Palette Settings, where users can customize the color palettes which will be used in their views. To open the Palette Settings window, users need to click on the CUSTOMIZE button.
The Explorer settings section contains the following options:
View filter: if checked (default), the view filter is active, so by default only your views will be displayed in the Explorer panel.
Resources order type: from this drop-down menu, users can define how the resources will be sorted by default every time the Explorer is opened. The available values are:
Alphabetical
Resource type
Creation
Last modified
Order Ascending: if selected (default), all the resources will be sorted in ascending order every time the Explorer is opened.
In the Palette Settings section, users can visualize their existing customized color palettes features by clicking on the arrow next to each palette, or they can cancel them by clicking on the X icon next to each palette.
Users can add new ones by clicking on the Add palette button. Once the palette has been added, they can rename it by clicking on the default palette name (PaletteX, where X is a progressive number) and by typing the chosen name.
To add colors to the palette, users can click on the plus button and click on the color (white by default) to open the colors panel.
From there, users can select Standard colors, otherwise they can use the color picker or choose the color code, which can be: Hex, Rgb, Hsl, Hsv.
Once the operation is finished, they can add more palettes, or they can save the generated ones by clicking APPLY. To close the Palette customization menu, click CANCEL.
The generated palettes can be used in the Widgets layout menus, in the Color section, from the drop-down menu right above the color codes.
