Discovering the Option Manager

The Option Manager is the Rulex Factory tool which allows you to modify in a single bulk operation the options belonging to different tasks of the same category.

The Option Manager can be opened from the Summary Tab or from the Explorer in the environment context menu. If the Option Manager is opened from an environment context menu in the Explorer, then bulk editing of the options can be performed even on tasks belonging to different flows, if they are in the same environment and in the same category.

Procedure

  1. Click on the Explore Resource icon to open the Explorer

  2. Right-click on an environment entry or on blank space to open the environment context menu.

  3. Select Option manager, and the Option Manager window appears.

The Option Manager allows you to bulk edit task options by working on their parametrized form. To fully understand the rest of this manual page, you need to know the concept of Task Parametrization contained here which is going to be taken as a prerequisite.

Selecting the tasks

Before performing bulk changes to task options, you need to define the set of tasks on which the operation has to be performed.

Attention

All the tasks need to belong to the same task category

The task selection is different if the Option Manager is opened from the Summary tab or from the Explorer.

When opening the Option Manager from the Summary tab, then the Summary tab itself is modified. A set of checkboxes appear next to the list of task names, they can be selected to define the list of tasks in the current flow to be bulk modified. If tasks belonging to different categories are selected, a warning message in the Option Manager window warns you about the mistake in the selection.

Procedure

  1. Click on the Explore Resource icon to open the Explorer.

  2. Open a flow and wait for the stage to open as well.

  3. From the Summary tab on the left-side of the stage, click on the pencil icon in the upper-right side of the tab to open the Option Manager.

  4. In the Summary tab, the tasks list will now show checkboxes next to each entry: select the task or the category you want to bulk edit.

  5. Parametric task visualization is going to be shown in the Option Manager window.

From the environment context menu, in the Option Manager window there’s an extra left sidebar with the list of flows present in the environment. Each flow can be expanded to select any task it contains. Selection can be performed contextually to the manager itself using this side panel, according to the requirement of a unique category.

Procedure

  1. Click on the Explore Resource icon to open the Explorer.

  2. Right-click on an environment entry or on blank space to open the environment context menu.

  3. Select Option manager, and the Option Manager window appears.

  4. On the left side of the Option manager panel, expand the flows to select tasks or categories you want to bulk edit.

  5. Parametric task visualization is going to be shown in the Option Manager window.

Changing the Options

Once a task or category selection is performed, a parametric task visualization is going to appear in the main panel of the Option Manager window.

In this visualization any task option is substituted with a GOLD code field or text area and any option need to be expressed or modified by inserting a proper new GOLD code.

If all the selected tasks share the same GOLD code for this option, then any field will display a value, otherwise it will appear as blank.

After you have edited all the entries you are interested in, you can click:

  • Apply to effectively bulk change the options in all the selected tasks, closing the Option Manager window.

  • Restore to revert all the modification and restore the situation as before opening Option Manager window.

  • Exit to close the Option Manager by discarding all the modifications performed.

Procedure

  1. Once the Option Manager window appears on the screen, select a set of tasks as stated in the previous section.

  2. Modify various options by navigating through standard parametric task visualization and by writing new desired GOLD code.

  3. Close the Option Manager by clicking Apply to make the modifications effective or Exit to discard them.
